"Frank Foster displays a masterful performance, ranking him among the top tenor players of his generation. I originally bought the vinyl release and was thrilled to find it was made available on CD. As for the music, this CD should be required listening for any aspiring jazz saxophonist. "I Remember Sonny Stitt" is a rhythm-changes based work with a couple of sophisticated twists that Foster navigates like a pro. Those of you who are 'Trane fans will be knocked over by "Dunbar's Delight", an up-tempo ii-V7-I composition that tops Giant Steps in complexity. Foster's solo is so well done it's worth transcribing. His quartet is equally impressive, consisting of Horace Parlan on Piano, Jesper Lungaard on bass and Aage Tanggaard on Drums. Originally recorded in 1982 in Denmark."
