I can wish for no more

"Having heard many rave reviews about this Gramaphone-award-winning recording, I will admit to having had very high hopes when I purchased it. My expectations were nothing to be compared with what I discovered. This disc is as close to the sublime as any I've yet heard - more so than most.
The Martin Mass for Double Choir is now revered as a true masterpiece - which it is - and I cannot imagine it ever being given a better performance. This is really a definitive account of it.
The Pizzetti Requiem is lush, and - dare I say it? - even more "enjoyable" to my ears than the Martin. Of course, the one is sublimely profound, and the other is "merely" ravishingly beautiful (although both pieces tend to overlap on those descriptions), but I found the Pizzetti to be far more deserving of raves than what it had garnered.
In any case, it is certainly a worthy companion to the Martin.
If you are wondering if this recording is really as good as you had heard, trust me - it's even better!"
