"Frank Morgan returns to his roots, and this album ends up being the best of his CDs since his return to the scene in 1985. Charlie Parker was always the major influence on Morgan's playing, and here he pays tribute to his main man. STAR EYES was one of Bird's great interpretations of a popular song, and Morgan gives it a terrific treatment, too. SCRAPPLE FROM THE APPLE, BILLIE'S BOUNCE, and the title track were all bebop standards, and Morgan delivers them flawlessly and with great elan. Mulgrew Miller (p), Ron Carter (b) and Al Foster (d) round out the personnel. If bop's your thing this is one of the best bebop dates of the last few decades. Grab it!"
