Buy the regular disc

"A word of warning for customers who do want to listen to this CD in a CD player, not just a computer...
I was disappointed with the dualdisc format. The DVD side includes the temporarily addicting video of "Do You Want To" and some random inside-the-studio clips, as well as an interview, but after you have finished going through these features once they are pretty much useless. The CD side worked fine in my computer, but in a boombox and a portable player it started skipping and finally stopped in the last few songs. I wish that I had just bought the regular, single-sided disc, which in addition to working better would also include artwork on the disc, which, surprisingly, I really miss.
Anyway, I love this album and can hardly get past tracks 1-4 because I just want to listen to them over again."
DualDisc does not have surround sound

"The four stars I'm giving is for the music on the disc. But here's my warning about the DualDisc format of this album: even though the track listing here on Amazon.com suggests that the DVD side has the album in 5.1 surround sound, that is *not* true. If you read the label on the album, it says "enhanced stereo".
Getting a surround sound mix is the only reason I would ever buy a DualDisc and this one doesn't have it. The extra video content on the DVD side is not really worth the extra cost. Get the CD version of this album."
You could have it so much better... with their first album

"I just recently in the past 6 months or so got really into franz, and after playing their first unbelievably amazing album into oblivion, I could hardly wait to get my hands on this one. After hearing the very fluffy and danceable "Do You Want To", I knew that "You could have it so much better" was going to be just as good if not better. That's why I was kind of disappointed after listening to it.
Don't get me wrong, it's not that the album is bad. The lyrics are actually very strong, the instruments sound great, and the songs are good listens. The thing is, if you're expecting the same catchy, danceable music of the debut (like I was), you're going to be disappointed. "The Fallen" and "Do You Want to" are my favorites, but everything else was just not the stuff I was hoping for. "Eleanor Put Your Boots On" sounds nothing like Franz- if you heard it 40 years ago, you would think it was the Beatles. Most of the songs like "You're the Reason I'm Leaving" and "Evil and a Heathen" just sound the same.
The Dualdisc DVD features are great though. I love the interview, the "Do You Want To" video is hilarious, and the studio stuff is cool. Worth the extra couple of bucks.
Overall, if you love Franz as much as I do, I wouldn't miss this album. I was a little disappointed in the songs, but I guess its just a new sound that I have to get used to. On a more exciting note, I'm seeing them live on October 17th and I can't wait!!"
Surpasses the Greatest of Modern Rock

"Wow.... This band can be easily compared to as the Beatles: a tight show, very clean, and makes the girls swoon, eh?
Well, Franz outdoes themselves with this anthemic album. People say the 2nd album is the most important, and they keep their place in our hearts with this master piece.
The opening track: "Fallen" is my absolute favorite Franz Ferdinand song. It's anthemic, bawdy, and a hell of a lot of fun to sing along to. Oh, did I mention that it makes a good point by saying that "The fallen are the virtuous among us"? Well, It does. This is a great song, but doesn't hold it's own as a single.
Then we have an actual single: "Do You Want To", though the lyrics are sexually suggestive, overall this is a very good.... yet catchy... song. Makes an awesome single... Plus the video is great.
The following song is also good, but not as good as the preceding two.
"Walk Away" is the album's 2nd single, and a very good one at that. Catchy, pointless, and again, a hell of a lot of fun to play airguitar to. A good song overall.
The rest of the album speaks for itself. It's not worth mentioning, so I'd suggest that if you don't want to buy it all, go to iTunes and purchase at least "The Fallen," "Do You Want To," "This Boy," "Walk Away," "What You Meant," and "Outsiders." Those would be the best, but there's not a bad song on this album. Very good overall."
Music's Good... the Technology is BOLLOCKS

"The only place I've found where this CD works is my work laptop. It doesn't work on any of the CD players at home or in my home computer--and YES, it is turned right side up. Too much technology, and I can't even listen to this CD at home!"
