"I can't recall at all how I came to purchase this. Likely, heard it on classical FM listening and then found and tried. Have played it often. Read in the cd cover that Liszt dressed up the gypsy classics with influences from Paganini. Now I know why I like this so much!"
Glorious!

"In an exuberant performance conducting the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra, Zubin Mehta offers this recording as a work of joy. Many people may know the work of Franz Liszt only through the overabundant (but appropriate) use of Rhapsody number 2 in many of the old Warner Bros. cartoons. There is so much more to offer and this recording makes that offering.
The orchestra captures the various moods from brooding to manic bordering on insane. They are expressive and the result is an exercise in joy.
