"Frith was the father of the guitar on the table method and uses it here to full advantage (well as close as you will get until they release his wonderful live in Japan set on cd) on a disc of solo guitar pieces that certainly had most of us scratching our heads when we first heard it on vinyl. Here it is in expanded form in the digital medium and sounding rather good.
Those expecting the usual fare of solo guitar albums could be dissapointed by Friths approach at first as the guitar strings are scraped ,tapped and fondled to produce some of the most wonderful improvisations that a prepared guitar has ever produced, but if they persevere the music will find them eventually.
Fred Frith has gone on to work with many musicians and groups (including the wonderful Naked City with John Zorn)and has released many discs under his own name all of them are worth looking for and this is a great place to start."

"Fred doing what Fred does best: defying what you think about guitars and guitarists. Sometimes dark, sometimes funny...always original."
