CD ReviewsFreddie's back Michael Bayer | Baltimore | 03/02/2000 (4 out of 5 stars) "So many male vocalists have come and gone since Freddie Jackson emerged in 1985 that it's easy to overlook him. Despite earning numerous #1s on the R&B chart during the late '80s, he's still viewed by many as the poor man's Luther Vandross. Maybe so, but as this disc shows, he still has the talent when he gets a good song. The first half has a contemporary feel, with tight male harmonies accenting Freddie's lithe tenor. The second half, largely produced by Paul Laurence, is Freddie as we knew him. Slow jams like "I Wanna Be Your Man" and "What's It Good For" will take you back when. Solid album." Life After 30 - AS Told By Freddie w_alesia | USA | 03/16/2000 (4 out of 5 stars) "I have been a Freddie Jackson fan since he first came out on the scene. Freddie's voice is still strong, soul touching and wonderful as always. I love track (10) "What is it Good For" (this track gives you the sound and the feel of the Old Freddie Jackson tunes that he is famous for (heart stirring)). This CD is one that I have had to really listen to over and over again to get into and some of the songs still did not pull me, even though I wanted them to. I was a little disappointed - because many time artist pull away from the sound that made them outstanding and start to jump into what everyone else is doing and many times what other artist are doing, does not always work for everyone and they end up losing there strong fans that they have. I miss the old Freddie Jackson sound, it was a little more old school, more of the deep love thang. The ingredients that they use for this CD was totally different from Freddie's Old Stuff. I understand that life is about changes, but learn when to add change and when to just enhance it with a little touch. My suggestion, is to first try to listen to the samples and get a feel for the CD before purchasing."
