Best of Freddie King's RSO Recordings

"This compilation includes selections from the three Freddie King albums that were released on the RSO label in the mid-1970s ("Burglar", "Larger Than Life", and "Freddie King 1934-1976"). Blues purists were not happy with these recording when they were initially released because they are rock oriented. However, there is some powerful playing here, whether you call it "blues" or "blues rock". Several of the selections include Eric Clapton on guitar (vocal on "Further Up The Road"), although you wouldn't know it from the liner notes, which are skimpy. There has never been a domestic "best of" compilation for Freddie's RSO recordings, so this is a welcome release and an excellent value."
Excellent CD including rare live performances w/Eric Clapton

"As the other reviewer pointed out, this is a compilation of three other Freddie releases. This Cd contains one of the best versions of 'Further on up the Road' since it includes Eric Clapton on vocals & guitar with Freddie and Eric exchanging riffs. 'Gambling Woman Blues' is a great slow cookin' live blues tune that's almost 9 minutes long and also includes Eric. 'T'Aint Nobody's Biz'ness If I Do' is another outstanding live track that makes this CD a must-have for those who love Freddie's music. The rest of the tunes are a bit hit and miss. Unlike 'Are You Ready for Freddie' which includes his best version of 'Have You Ever Loved a Woman,' this CD includes the absolute worst version. A very annoying woman keeps yelling 'yeah' in a loud attempt to be seductive and it absolutely ruins the song. Just hit the 'skip' button when that track comes up. There are a few other good live tunes like the classic 'Sweet Home Chicago' and a standard Freddie tune 'TV Mama.' The tunes from the Burglar release include a funky Jan Hammer-style synthesiser, so those may or may not be your style. Since 'Freddie King (1934-1976)' is out-of-print and fairly expensive used, this CD is a bargain since it includes the best from that live CD."
