A regretful buy...

"Having been a huge fan of Adam Freeland since hearing his track "Mind Killer" on REZ, I blind-bought this album based off of all my previous Adam Freeland CDs I bought (as well as his EPs). This was a mistake, since I should have listened to it before buying. This is NOT the Adam Freeland that I've grown to love.
To it's credit, the music is well produced, with clear and clean vocals and instrumentation. Good guitar work as well, with a huge line up of rock/metal collaborators. Unfortunately the actual music is NOT like anything Freeland has done before. "Now & Them's" awesome NuSkool breaks/ Breakbeats are practically gone from this album. None of the awesome, dark synth work from the "Hate EP" is here either. This is largely an electro album that has a huge amount of rock influence. Not a bad idea, but it's not what I wanted to hear from one of the breakbeat masters. I really hope that this was only an experiment for him and not an example of his "new" sound. Otherwise count me out. Sadly there isn't a single song that even remotely stuck in my head. Everything sounds like filler tracks. Not a single standout track. Which might be a good thing if you like what you hear.
For anyone looking for some REAL Breakbeats/NuSkool Breaks from 2009, I'd recommend General Midi's "Operation Overdrive", or Drumattic Twins "Hammer & Tongs", or even Slyde's "Everyone's Entitled To Our Opinion" from 2008 way more than this album. I hope that Adam Freeland reverts back to his earlier style for his next work. We'll just have to wait and see I guess."
An Awesome Album, yet again...

"This guy just knows what making electronic music is all about.
The album is solid all the way through, and doesn't have a sound that will seem dated in a couple years.
It has a totally different sound and mood than his previous work, but will definitely grow on you if you like the style of Freeland.
Check out Now and Them as well!"
