It Will Either Give You a Headache, or Change Your Life
Mono-Grind | Here | 04/28/2005
(4 out of 5 stars)

"For starters, it gave me a headache after a few minutes. And it did 'sort of' change my outlook on music. This is pure Noise, for Noises sake (Which i don't mean in a 'bad' way). Most of the background noises sound like static, with the screams coming and going very often. Most of "Track 2" sounds like a whole variety of different alarm clocks. At high-pitched volume. So if you're easily annoyed by that sort of thing, then you'll find it hard to listen to obviously.

Masonna, like most other Japanese Noise artist/musicians, is extreme. Taking things to the absolute extreme, whether that be with totally annoying, high-pitched alarms, with equally as high-pitched screaming in the background, or just plain loud static. This album is possibly the hardest album i have ever had to listen to. Mainly because of the volume. I had to turn it down to around 4, on my CD Player, and it was still pretty loud.

Other than that, the screaming, static noise in the background and the twisted electronic noises Masonna uses in these songs are totally unreal, and very much the main highlights of this CD. The screaming sounds horrible (In a good way), almost like what you'd hear in a Japanese Horror Movie or something. The static noises, at times do get pretty repetitive, but in many of these songs they add to the sound. Making some songs almost sound like they're being recorded in some sort of massive wind-storm, or even just in a very loud factory.

If you are already a fan of Masonna, by all means get this. Mainly because you know what to expect. Also, to fans of other similiar musicians like Merzbow i think you would find something in this CD that you would like. But for new fans to Masonna, i'm not sure if this is the right place to start. This is the only CD i've heard of Masonna, so i'm not sure about his other works, whether they're easier to get into and work your way up to this one or not. I guess, if you like the sound of these songs, from how i described them, you might want to check this out. It's unique, and unlike anything i've ever heard, but it's also extremely loud and high-pitched at times which makes it hard to listen to some songs.

I give it 3.5/5 ..Because it's at least original, and creative in it's own disturbing way, plus some of these songs sound so unreal you will probably want to listen to them again and again. Just be warned though, it's not easy listening."
DOSE ON THE MASONNA TRIP

"This trippy cd is for LSD lovers and noise lovers alike.

Right when you put this cd in your player, YOU ARE INSTANTLY CATAPULTED INTO MASONNA MADNESS.

Every single track is another HIT TO THE HEAD.

bad trip screams and all the loud pummeling noise to accommadate it, perfectly.

I would definetly say this is Masonnas most dangerous record, directed straight towards your unprepared ears.

BEAUTIFUL CHAOS. How many stars does this really deserve?

A GALAXY FULL."
Almost organized noise at it's best !

"Masonna is extreme music. He's music is so raw, so pure ! He said that " noise is the earliest form of punk ". After listening Frequency LSD, i think you will understand he's point. Actually Masonna's noise is quite humane. The equipment he uses is also quite intresting. Lot's of pedals, mics, and some box full of coins ! There are lot's of vocal loops and screams repeated that create hooks ( not in the common pop sense ) Many of the tracks are extremely high pitched and all of them are extremely noisy as well. I think he uses some of the synths that he uses on his side project " Space Machine " Which creates even more psychedelic parts ! This is truly powerfull music and impressive listening experience ! Check out !"
