Friedemann deserves to be called a musical genius, in my opinion. His music is very creative, interesting, and intuitive. While I can't say that this album is quite as wonderful as "indian summer", which is his best, it's worth getting just for "Five Sounding Crystals". I am so glad I discovered his music on KKSF F.M. many years ago.

Friedemann's most beautiful work.

(5 out of 5 stars)

"I wish I had purchased this title many years ago at the height of Narada New Age music. I have been a loyal fan of David Arkenstone and David Lanz for years, along with many other artists published by Narada and Windam Hill (among others). Friedemann is one of those gems that I purchased many years later, and wish I were able to say that I have loved it for decades.

The sweet instrumental arrangements, soulful woodwinds and simple melodies are woven together expertly. The music doesn't feel overproduced, nor amateur in any way. The instruments such as guitar, piano, oboe, clarinet, and pennywhistle are old familiar friends, but the compositions are such that they have a renewed intertwined sound and meaning. The mood is generally uplifting, even jovial. The sounds are natural, emotional, and expressive.

After hearing this album, I searched for other works by Friedemann, and found a few, but none have captured my imagination in the same way. I would love to see Friedemann return to this genre and produce more like it, I am sure in today's stressful world it would be welcomed."
