Synopsis

Future Loop Foundation, a.k.a. Mark Barrott, has learned to expand on the ambient-inspired sound of his earlier work, typified by his first full-length album, Time and Bass. His third record stretches its legs out early, jumping into "Conditions for Living" (Headz Down '99) with washes of high-energy drum & bass. FLF's attack is relentless, as beats furiously cascade along, trumping all other concerns. It's purposefully repetitive, and though it's still "ambient" music, it's not New Age-y or melodic in the slightest. While Barrott has more on his mind than just making you dance, he's no armchair DJ. His work is powerfully rhythmic, with house music inflections and stomach-churning bass lines. However, if you've grown accustomed to the strange wonder that these drum loops are capable of, this record acts as a perfect late-night comedown. --Matthew Cooke

CD Reviews

FLF rises above the crowd!

(4 out of 5 stars)

"Future Loop Foundation provides another great CD. Without question one of the more interesting drum n' bass acts out there, this record is much more uptempo than his debut cd "Time and Bass" (there is a 2nd cd as well, that i've never had much luck finding!?). Parts of this disc are very intense, heavy cuts, along with a collection of mellower tracks. FLF has always made extremely interesting records, and this is no exception. Not really well known here in America unfortuneatly. If you're looking for some adventurous yet slamming drum n bass, check this out!"
