A must-have version of No. 5

"I have never heard a better performance of Mahler's No. 5. There are outstanding directors out there who will deliver faultless interpretations, but to me the few bars in the middle of the second movement, where all strings play a tremendously expressive motif in unison, reach a summit of expression under Kubelik that you will hear nowhere else. It's over in a few seconds, but that part alone leaves you breathless for the rest of the work.

I have long relied on a casette to enjoy this music, now am very happy to finally find it on mp3.

I heartfeltly recommend it."
