"I first became familiar with Gabriel Yared's music when I purchased the "City of Angels" soundtrack. I found that music to be very relaxing and soothing. I hadn't seen this movie yet when I purchased the CD. I am a huge fan of good music, and from hearing his other music, and hearing the sound clips Amazon provided, I just knew this CD had to be good. Well, it definitely exceeded my expectations. It is incredible. After listening to it several times, I finally saw the movie, and I enjoyed the movie even more because I was already familiar with the music. For the last week, I have fallen asleep to this CD at night. It has to be the most beautiful and relaxing CD I own. There isn't one track on here that I don't like."
Very good: Yared builds up a tradition!

"Let me first say that I haven't watched the film. I belong to what I believe is a growing segment of music lovers who buy soundtrack/score music because it is good music. I bought this CD solely based on the recommendation of the reviews I read here. Now, let me tell you what I think of the CD. Composer Gabriel Yared continues quite a bit on his English Patient style here. Whereas the English Patient's music was bleak and slow, but graceful and moving, Message in a Bottle's score is thankfully brighter and definitely more romantic. It doesn't evoke this romanticism all the time though. Funnily enough, the tracks at the latter part of the CD tend to become darker and more orchestrated. I say funnily enough because I think that the story of the film starts sadly but ends happily (I could be wrong). The earlier part is lovely in that it builds up and works a nice bittersweet and melodic theme. I have a soft spot for piano, and therefore tracks 4 (Theresa), 5 (Launch), 8 (Tell me about Catherine), 10 (Some lives form a perfect circle), these tracks seemed very evocative. Also, Track 11 (Where the boundaries are) seemed to have a lightspanish/flamenco influence which made it very pleasing. Some tracks also seemed to be very aptly titled, i.e. the music seemed to portray the title well, which ties in with what some other reviewers have said: the music suited the film perfectly. In conclusion, I would recommend this CD to you if you like romantic film music, this is quite harmonious and soothing."
Music to sooth the soul and lift the spirit...

"One of the most moving and beautiful music written for a movie. Gabriel Yared, who also composed the score for City of Angels has created another collection of music that is soothing, uplifting, and touching. Every note speaks to the listener in the most emotional ways."
It is breathtaking!

"I know Gabriel Yared's score of the Talented Mr. Ripley was nominated for an Academy Award, but I will always think it should have been Message in a Bottle. The music is beautiful, emotional, and captures the thrill and drama of sailing and the ocean. From the very first notes, the music grabs you and doesn't let go. Yared has a timeless winner here!"
Excellent

"After watching the film, I was deeply touched by the music and the songs. Since the movie was filmed around 10 years ago, I think Amazon is the only place that have the collection. The collection, double CD, is absolutely fantastic!!Gabriel Yared is GREAT!"
