While maybe not as much as a breakthrough as the first shadow hearts soundtrack, this shouldn't be underated or brushed aside.
It definatly has it's high peaks, though most are found on the second cd.
Some of the popular "berserk" music has been toned down and easier to listen to.Maybe the producers wanted to do this for some who found the original's too disturbing?Nevertheless, the berserk music of the final boss "Come on!" is one of the best tracks;it's fast, furious and unrelenting
As far as the other music we hear when Yuri is not on the brink of insanity,"OohLaLa!","Evil Gate Opener" and "The Three Karma" are among some stand outs.
For me Shadow Hearts V.2 soundtrack was not disapointing at all and I'd recommend it to anyone,be it a video game player or someone looking for something different to listen to."
Decent

"I have to admit that the first game's soundtrack was better than this one. All in all the music from this game was decent. There just wasn't the same haunting quality to the tracks as Shadow Hearts had. I would still advise anyone that enjoyed the first soundtrack to pick this one up."
Good music but less mystery

"I was so certain I would like this CD that I bought it the same time as I bought the PS2 game it comes from. After playing it through, I have come to the conclusion that this is the lesser of the two Shadow Hearts soundtracks. The first soundtrack came shrouded in gorgeous, mysterious packaging that hinted at exotic musical treasures lying awaiting discovery inside...which there were. Here the packaging has been prepared with less effort - and again this matches the musical content!
Gone are the authentic sounding oriental instrumentations and melancholy strings (my favourites), still present are the jaunty, humorous numbers and ear-splitting "berserk" themes (my least favourite). It's a shame, because the majority of tracks are still very good, but none come close to the evocative compositions on the first album. The ones that come of best actually mimic tunes from the first album, for example, a new theme for "Nematon Abbey" has been created by just duplicating the same style and tune of the first one. There is however, one real stand out track in the form of the boss music on Disc 2 for "Astaroth". What a great departure from the norm to have a slow-tempo track for a boss instead of a noisy rock-out. This sinister, swaying piece features Middle Eastern style chanting and instrumentation, and was highly effective in the actual game - I'm glad to report that it has equal impact when heard by itself. The Shadow Hearts musical team make good use of arabic/eastern-influences in another track, named as "Ooh La La (!), which gamers may remember as the theme of the fortune teller Lucia - another great piece of music.
Sadly it doesn't all measure up to the high standards set by the first album. The final boss music is less memorable, as is the closing credits song, and the general mood is just not quite as arresting. Good effort, though."
