"I have been fortunate in my musical life... to have worked with great musicians... the best in the world. Some, OK, most are more like the best in the world at what they do... there will be other "bests" in other styles... but none will be better. Jimi Hendrix is one that most know. Garth Hudsen is one that most don't know.
"Little Island" almost sounds like a regular piano song... but relax and listen closely.... Nothing that Garth plays is regular... Garth transitions into that dream state where different realities, different musics, blend perfectly, as they would never do in real life, or by other hands. As you listen, you find it interesting and don't quite know why?
Ronnie Hawkins called it "special effects"... I remember him saying "Hey Garth. When are you going to come by the studio and put some special effects on my record?" Garth smiled... and filed the memory away like a treasure. Ronny new Garth had something special, but couldn't quite figure out what it was. He just knew that it helped his music. The guys in The Band knew it too.
Don't try to figure it out with this recording... just relax and flow through Garth's brilliant mind and enjoy the ride. You will be refreshed. Its good to hear Garth and Maud... its good to have this visit."
