CD ReviewsEverything! Paul | Detroit | 07/02/2006 (5 out of 5 stars) "This collection contains everything they released on single 45s, including the "doin the flake" cornflake commercial that came inside a cerial box and "Time stand still" featureing Gary immitating his father Jerry. The collection also includes most of the better B sides. These are from the original tapes used to master the the 45s, not re-recordings. " Count me in... Robert S. Estes | Santa Rosa, Ca | 04/25/2008 (4 out of 5 stars) "Gary Lewis had his dad's whiny voice, his dad's elastic face, and his dad's money behind his recording career.
Nothing there to be a long lasting Rock and Roll hero. Except, Gary had bunches of hits, legitimate fun and good songs. "This Diamond Ring" is sweetly recalled as an Al Cooper written song. Leon Russell produced and played on most of Gary's hits. "Count Me In" is a nicely play on words, "Everybody Loves a Clown" fit well in the mid '60's oever, "She's Just My Style" is a gawdful vocal, but man o' man what fun! Personally, I recall being 11 years old, and walking into my 6th grade class and watching/hearing four young girls sitting at their desks harmonizing to.."walk along the lake with someone new, have yourself a summmer fling or two.." It was the sweetest thing I ever heard. Later, I got a first kiss from a girlfriend while listening to Gary Lewis This is a great CD! " |
