The Right Place is Right

"I purchased this in 1981 when it came out as a record album and wore it out in 2 months of continual play. I recently purchased the CD from Gary Wright himself. I do not feel that the songs chosen for airplay on the radio back in 1981 were not the best ones on the album. Even today I would bet that "Got The Feelin'", "The Right Place", and "Close To You" would be top 10 songs. The fact that two of them have titles previously used by Dr. John (The Right Place)and the Carpenters (Close to You) probably prevented their airplay. If Gary had changed their titles a little, they would still be played on the oldies stations today. I highly recommend this recording to anyone who loves music, not just "The Dream Weaver" sound. I have close to 2,000 CD's, and this one is in my top 20, if not top 10."

"ON this LP, Gary goes heavy on warm (read: Prophet 5) synthesizer textures, backed by the drumset. The guitars of "HEadin' home" have largely vanished, and the songwriting runs the gamut of rock and ballads. He's closer to the flow of "Dream Weaver" here, but the writing is in many places more sophisticated and subtle, and he's definitely not "ripping himself off"!!! One of his better-wearing LPs."

""I Really Wanna Know You", was a big hit off of this album. "The Light of Smiles", is still my all-time favorite, though. This album, is in "The Right Place", as well....."
