CD Reviews
FANTASTIC 70'S WRIGHT
B. P. Vidrine | Ville Platte, LA United States | 06/20/2005
(4 out of 5 stars)
"Gary Wright may not have had a huge success with this album, but it is still one of my favorites. Several great songs on here, 9 tracks in all and they are all good songs. The best songs are "Night Ride", "I can't get above losing you", "Starry Eyed", "Something very Special" , "The love it takes", and "Sky Eyes". The other three songs are not as good, but still worth listening to. This album has been out of print from CD for a very long time. I hope that someday soon, it will make a return to circulation. For a true Wright fan, it is a must have."
One Of The Best Yet

"This is as good as it gets. My 3 favorites are: Sky Eyes, Night Ride, The Love It Takes. It is a really good album considering the tough times Gary was going through. This album will always be one of my favorites."
A TREASURE TOO LONG BURIED....IT'S TIME TO DIG

"PERHAPS WRIGHT'S "DREAM WEAVER" ALBUM WAS SO BIG THAT IT RAN RIGHT OVER THIS SUPERIOR EFFORT WHICH WAS RELEASED BEFORE IT'S PREDECESSOR HAD EVEN LEFT THE CHARTS. "TOUCH & GONE" GOES BEYOND WRIGHT'S USUAL IMAGE TO EXPOSE HIS OTHER FACETS. FROM THE HAUNTING "NIGHT RIDE" TO THE WAILING BLUES ATTITUDE ON "STAY AWAY". FROM THE HEAVY LYRICS ON "I CAN'T GET ABOVE LOSING YOU" TO THE LIGHT-HEARTED "SOMETHING VERY SPECIAL" -ONE SPIN WILL TELL YOU THIS IS EASILY THE BEST LISTENING EXPERIENCE A WRIGHT FAN COULD ASK FOR."
Wrong direction for Wright
Kenneth J. Williams | San Diego, Ca United States | 12/10/2000
(3 out of 5 stars)
"Although I enjoyed this album when it came out in late '77, I found its synthesizer sounds to be too extreme and schmaltzy. Wright always does a good job in terms of writing but his choice of colors seemed limited. If you like vintage synths you may find this to be a piece of ear candy for Moogs and Oberheims. Other than that, Gary's best work was yet to come."
More 'Gone' than 'Touch'

"Having completed fabulous albums in 'Dreamweaver' and 'Light of Smiles', 'Touch n Gone' goes nowhere at all. It was the start of a bleak period for Gary Wright, so approach this one with Extreme Caution."
