GAY DAD - TRANSMISSION

(3 out of 5 stars)
"The high expectations that were surrounding GAY DAD's sophomore attempt, TRANSMISSION - ended up confirming this time their name is bigger than the music. This is a good record. Five stars means a complete classic, four stars - excellent. Leisure Noise is excellent, so although Transmission is among a different caliber, Dad's style on Transmission takes on the alter-ego of modern glamrock, David Bowie, Iggy Pop, and Suede. If you follow these artists, you may have a partial attachment as a continued fan, but this album is not a fan builder. Older Bowie or Pop fans that have never heard Gay Dad will not find the salvage as a newer Suede fan (who seems to be losing their appeal). The posiitve - Cliff Jones' voice is stronger than ever, and some of these tracks are catchy enough to be remembered fondly. You will be hearing "NIGHTCLUB" in your head all week upon first listen. Noteworthy tracks also include: Transmission, Now Always and Forever, Harder Faster, Dinosaur, and Keep It Heavy....a term that Cliff seems to be partial of."
