CD ReviewsMysterious, Wonderful Nick Dets | Tijuana | 11/30/2004 (4 out of 5 stars) "Everyone knows the $2.99 bucket at a music store. The one featuring a plethora of Billy Squier and generic old school rap and rock artists you would never care to know. Sometimes, it is necessary to plow through the muck...maybe you'll find something special. Something like "Heavenly Bodies". This is a rare album that genuinely creates a surreal state of mind. It opens with "American Dreamer", a powerhouse that propels you into its moody journey of an enlightened mind. This is a sadly underrated album. I have a hard time seeing how tracks like "Joshephina", "Sweet Sweet Rain" and its title track went unnoticed. Besides one or two songs of filler and some pretentious lyrics, (what great rock album is without them, though?) "Heavenly Bodies" is a beautiful, catchy album." Underappreciated band GKG | Huntsville | 10/30/2005 (4 out of 5 stars) "Although I'm an 80's metalhead, I really have an appreciation for this band. They have a sound that's difficult to describe but if you can imagine Bang Tango mixed with 80's alternative type rock(not the annoying REM kind but the Church kind), and add the Cult's "Love" album, you might get Gene Loves Jezebel. Heavy bass and almost sort of dance music added in. Very unique!" Gene Loves Jezebel rocks! Aaron J. Landon | Milwaukee, WI USA | 05/05/2007 (5 out of 5 stars) "This is a great album! GLJ is in rare gothic, rock, form. Many great songs. Great vocals, lyrics and instrumentations on this album. I have been a fan of GLJ since the eighties. I had the privilidge of seeing them live in a small venue back in the 80's. Immigrant is probably my fave but all albums are great! Think alternative-new wave-goth-rock-and pop. Love love love it! End."
