Synopsis

It doesn't take a fortune teller to figure out that the "Bewitched" soundtrack will be a lighthearted, whimsical collection organized around the theme of magic. As a result, this CD is a great way to get your hands on such classics as Frank Sinatra's "Witchcraft," Ella Fitzgerald performing "Ding Dong! The Witch Is Dead" and, the highlight, Steve Lawrence's beefed-up big band take on the original instrumental show theme "Bewitched." As for brand new music, there are three tracks: The Actual's rock-meets-new-wave cut "Dancing On The Perimeter," a very Parisian-chic "City of Love" by Persephone's Bees, and an appearance by Tony winner Kristin Chenoweth. (Chenoweth, who plays Maria Kelly in the Bewitched movie and starred in Wicked on Broadway, offers up a sultry cover of the Eagles' "Witchy Woman.") All told, much like the original series, it is the old school feeling that provides the musical highlights on this disc: if you are craving a collection of classic big band and swing, then consider Bewitched a good introduction to some sassy, brassy classics. --Denise Sheppard

"I watched this movie three times in theaters before buying the soundtrack. Don't make the same mistake, buy this at once.

Basically the best tracks are 1. Perspherone Bees City of Love

3. Kristen Chenewith Witchy Woman

4. Frank Sinatra Witchcraft (Don't particular like Sinatra, but this track was suprisingly well done)

6.Steve Lawrence Bewitched (Sounds rather like Sinatra)

7.R.E.M Everybody Hurts

Overall, the soundtrack is more swing jazz then anything else, but very sweet to listen to, and pleasent on the ears. I recommend this to anyone who loves good music.

Fun Collection...way better than the film!

"Skip the film and but the DVD of the TV Series Season One. As far as the music goes, this is a fun little collection of assorted "witchy" music. Nothing out of this world original or amazing, but a fun compilation of familiar tunes that will come in handy when you're stuck in the freeway and in need of some toe tapping.

Noteworthy are Ella Fitzgerald's jazzy spin on DING DONG THE WITCH IS DEAD and Steve Lawrence's swingin' version of the TV theme song."
