A golden jazz horn quiet too early

"As Pete Fountain expresses in his book "Closer Walk with Thee" and as he told me in person, George Girard,co-founder of the unique Basin Street Six in New Orleans, was one of the greatest trumpet players of New Orleans Jazz. He died at 26 years of age from cancer of the colon, but his horn is still alive in this CD and those of the Basin Street Six; as well as a number of albums with the Basin Street Six (Mercury the best) and Southland. As with Bix Beiderbecke, Girard died too early with a promising career ahead of him; so as to make one's collection of New Orleans Jazz complete, this CD is a must. His power and intonation are remarkable! Dr. Hackler "Grandpa Spells", Orlando
