CD Reviews

Great CD for Yoga and unwinding / Healing
Danster | San Francisco | 03/18/2004

"I use this CD primarily for yoga. A stressed out friend of mine listened to the CD and replied, " I needed that" . All the music is there to sample. No tricks or false manufacturer reviews to manipulate. Just majestic music"
Music to soothe...

"Markoe has produced a remarkable, faithful *instrumental* expression of Yogananda's melodies. These cuts are not intended to sing along with; they will not get your foot tapping. That is not their intent: they will soothe the heart and mind and put you in a better place for yoga, meditation, or just clearer thinking.

I had never bought a non-SRF recording based on Yogananda's chants, but I happened into a book store in Encinitas when this was playing. Wonderful for background music in any such setting - or for a yoga class. For that the pace is ideal. The artistry of the orchestration is superb.

Will Put You To Sleep

"I have been quite familiar with these chants for years, and was excited to find this CD. However, after first listening, I was very dissapointed. The arrangements are, IMO, boring and repetative, and most of the chants are played at a "death march" pace. On the plus side, the musical talent and production are professional. If you want to hear inspiring renditions of Yogananda's composed and interperated traditional chants I would recommend any of those published by Self Realization Felloswship."
