A good introduction to Manset

"Gerard Manset is a "cult" artist in France. His songs have complex lyrics that act on the listener's mind like paintings or photographies. Perhaps he is the most poetic of french song writers. I like his music too, but it is difficult to separate the music from the lyrics in Manset's song, so I don't know if people who don't speak french can really appreciate Manset. This is probably why he is completely unknown outside french-speaking countries. People who appreciate Peter Hammill's lyrics and have notions of french may find Manset interesting. Both artists have the same level of integrity, depth, and similar "cult" status (though geographically limited for Manset)."
