Synopsis
Album Description In a sea of generic punk rock bands, Get Set Go manages to distinguish themselves with a uniquely attractive sound coveted by many but only successfully tapped into by a few. Their unpretentious and appealing style is reminiscent of something somewhere between a punked-out Death Cab for Cutie and The Ramones. Somehow they?ve found the perfect balance between catchy simplicity and a certain sophisticated complexity, giving them a quirky almost irreverent edge. Memorable and clean guitar riffs, strangely compelling bass lines, and strong drum beats compliment inviting melodies and basically brilliant lyrics. The vein of sharp-tongued wit and sarcasm running through each song has a poignancy, depth, and perspective inarguably not heard since Weezer released "Pinkerton" in 1996. Their sound reflects true emotional tumult and acerbic pessimism cut with wry humor, as opposed to sappy uninspired emo-esque self-pity. The album?s strong emotional undercurrent only thinly veiled by melodic power-pop hooks and playful cynicism gives it a certain vulnerability that?s incontestably propulsive.--Natasha Melnick Similarly Requested CDs

CD ReviewsRacing Toward Inspiration? Get Set Go Sisyphus | Fresno, CA USA | 12/01/2003 (5 out of 5 stars) "Get Set Go has that rare quality seldom seen in music today: inspiration. Whether it's blazing guitar riffs, thundering drum lines, or melodic vocals, this band can do it all. While some would compare them to Weezer, or Foo Fighters, or even (gasp!) Jimmy Eat World, because of their occasionally pop-punk sound, their punk sensibilities are also evident, especially on tracks like "Jesus Christ Wore Leather," a track the Sex Pistols weren't brave enough to sing. Even songs that sound radio-friendly and accessible often deal with challenging subjects, like abusive relationships in "Matress" or the emotional alienation created by modern relationships in "Lonely Girl." Get Set Go has catchy songs you can't stop listenting to, and an album you can listen to a thousand times, because the inspiration in these three artists is clear every time you hear their songs." Imagin you favorate band! ron dean | Palm Desert, CA United States | 09/07/2003 (5 out of 5 stars) "no matter what you like or what's going on in your life there is something in here for you. this is music you could drive across country listening to and not get tired of it once.
