I'm So "Caught Up" With This One!

"This CD was scheduled to be released 4 years ago, under Missy's lable "Goldmind Inc", but they never released it, and never gave Gina Thompson a chance. They never played her videos, and didn't really put much effort, nor money into them, which is a shame because if this would have been released, and if the videos would have been better, and would have been played, it would have done a whole lot better. With that said, I will give you a rundown of each track, just so you know what we missed out on. I was able to get a friend to burn all the tracks for me, since that's the only way this CD is available now...1- If You Only Knew (Interlude)- This is a very good introduction, I think. It's a good kick-off for the album, and it has great vocals, as well as sincere-like lyrics. [9/10]2- Take My Number Down- This one took me a while to get used to, but after a few listens, I enjoyed it. It has an interesting beat, but her raspy, yet very sincere voice helps it out... as the first song of the cd, it's pretty good. [8.5/10]3- Ladies Anthem- This one has a really great beat... reminds me of the egyptians playing their music, and their snakes rising out of the basket for some reason... LoL... But yeah, this one has pretty laid back lyrics, and her voice is really great on it. [10/10]4- Calling U- This one is a very soothing cool-down type of song. Very good lyrics, with her sincere, and soothing vocals make this one a definate highlight. [9.5/10]5- Ya Di Ya- This was her first single, and it's a very fun track, featuring Missy Elliot. Great beat, and great vocals, with an OKAY video, that could have been improved with a little more money... but I know that's definately not her fault, so she still gets the good score of... [10/10]6- You Can't Play Me- This one is a very attitude-packed track, yet it is done very nicely, to a slow and mellow, yet very erotic-sounding beat. It sounds alot like Monica's "So Gone" to me. This one is definately a nice standout track! [8.5/10]7- It Hurts- Great Toni Braxton/Deborah Cox-like ballad. The beginning sounds alot like "Nobody's Supposed To Be Here", but this one is just a tad better... I like it. [9/10]8- He'll Do It Again (Gospel Interlude)- Eventhough this one is a Gospel Interlude, I really like it. She even has a chior in it and everything, and it has a real church vibe to it. I like it alot. [9.5/10]9- Caught Up- This one was her second single and video, featuring Beanie Siegel. The video for this one was a little bit better than the one for "Ya Di Ya", eventhough neither of them were really played. But the song has a very very good beat... my favorite off the cd. Beanie's rap also does it justice. This song's hook will stay in your head for days. Without a doubt my favorite track. [10/10]10- Coolin' Out- This one is another cool-down song, but it seems sord of like a filler, compared to the others. Very laid back lyrics, and soothing vocals help it out a little bit. [8.5/10]11- Turn Around- This one would have been great for a third single, and video. It's my favorite ballad off of the CD, and it features Lil' Mo in the background. This one also sounds like the type of ballad you could hear from Toni Braxton. I absolutely love the song... It's a strong highlight, as well as my second favorite. [10/10]12- Up All Night- This one is a very sincere, romantic-like song featuring Jon B. It seems like a filer, eventhough they did a very good job on it. All in all, I like it, and it could also be considered to be a highlight. [9/10]13- Don't Take Your Love Away- Yet another ballad, but the most original ballad on the CD. The first 20 seconds of it sounds like it's going to turn into a weird, dark-sided-like song... LoL... But it really just turns into a great beat. She sounds really good on this one... I like it alot! [9.5/10]14- As Long As God Allows- This one is about her kid, which you would notice, from listening to just the first 10 seconds of this track. It's a very sweet song about her kid, and sounds alot like "I Believe I Can Fly". It's a very good track, as well as a good outro to the CD. [10/10]So if you want something original and something very very good that was just never released, then try to find a program where you can download the songs and try to burn a copy... it's really the only way you could get your hands on this magnificent CD... but you will not be dissapointed!"

"This gina thompson unreleased sophmore effort is icredibly one of the best albums i heard in a long time with prodution from montell Jordan plus guest appearances from Missy Elliot and Jon B.plus more. This album is filled with a mixture of gospel,r&b,ballads and jazz tunes. This was a big mistake on elektra's part for shelving this fantastic cd. Gina really out did herself this 2nd time. There music for everyone on the cd. The singles ya di ya, caught up was great r&b jams. This album would've sold alot plus gina and her fans were cheated. The album title"if you only knew" speaks for it self as far as the way it sound and it being a unreleased . Elektra's lost Gina will be back"
If You Only And Truly Knew. Best Album I Have heard In Years

"There are hardly any words that can describe how great this album is. It was supposed to be released back in 1999 and when the release date came, she already been dropped from Elektra. What a big mistake they made. It took me a long to finally get this album, but I have already listened to it and I am so caught up with this one. Gina Thompson truly out did herself on this album. She has a voice that cannot be stopped and whoever is looking for a great singer, you have to get her signed to you lable. The album is so good that is hard to even say which is my favorite, but if I had to choose, it would her song "It Hurts". This ballad will remind you a little bit of Deborah Cox "Nobody Supposed To Be Here" by the way it starts off. However, the song to me is better sounding and her voice soars throughout the entire song. Like the album says, If You Only Knew and if that wasn't the truth. I have been a big fan of hers since she came out with "Nobody Does It Better" and I will truly have to say you can see the maturity from her first album to her second. Its just so much feeling on how great this album truly is, that I dont know what words to use or what to say. But I will say this, for Elektra, you truly lost a real star and you have no idea what you have lost. If anybody out there wants to sign a great singer, give Gina Thompson a call and you will not be disappointed. Gina, I miss you girl and if you ever get back in the scene I will still be a fan of yours forever."
