...and they know how to ROCK OUT with them too!

"So what, by this collection's title might you expect "Girls with Guitars" to mean? Happily by the rare compilation actually put together here it means LOTS of variety and not just instrumentals that (listening to them) you'd be hard pressed to determine who actually did the songs. Toward the end there are a couple of them ("Rock City" and "Sticks and Stones"), but that's fine. Not an imbalance out of 24 tracks. Also a couple carried over from an earlier "Girls in the Garage" release "Boy What'll You do Then", and "Only Seventeen" , but again these blend in well enough here that I don't mind it so much personally. The stand-out quality of this collection to me is that it's really a great span of various 60's sounds. Starting out with some "Surf-arific" beats - "My Baby", "Boys Can Be Mean", "V.I.P", "Come on Along" and "I'd Rather Fight than Switch". The last two of this list also fit in to other categories too. "Come on Along" reminding me of something Bow Wow Wow might have done in their heyday. "Fight than Switch" (The Tomboys) also delightfully carries over in to the fun, silly novelty tunes category with lyrics like "...that little girl told you a lie, lie, lie! She said I found another guy, guy, guy...!" Other great silly tunes include "Do the Dog", "Skinny Vinnie", "Chew Chew Fee Fi Fun" and "Hully Gully Guitar". What names some of these girl bands had too! "Goldie & the Gingerbreads" and "Sugar & the Spices" ?! You'd expect nothing less than fun! Also rounding out the 60s sounds were the later decade folksy, "Patridge Family-sounding" tunes like "They are the Lonely" and "Help me Boy". Ending it on that note, other enjoyable things are found here too, this is a great investment in rarity, IMO. Enjoy!"
Great Compilation

"I really like this set but Amazon's track listing is a bit off.
This list below is the actual track / band list.
Some bands are featured twice; Goldie and the Gingerbreads are featured 4 times.
I've also included the years of each song.
The compilation goes from garage punk to girl power pop.
Recommended.
