"I was conducting a review of my World War Two website and wanted to identify some music of the period to exemplify the mood of the time. That's how I stumbled upon Glenn Miller. Then I came across these broadcast archives. Just what I was looking for! I can't believe the previous reviewer and his comments about the sound. Talk about missing the point. It's this genuine radiogram-type sound that makes these recordings so evocative. Glenn Miller had a unique big band sound and these live recordings have maintained a historical quality that when you hear them, you'd think you really were listening to them live through your old fashioned radiogram. Listen to these archives and you'll feel like you're back in the 1940s, listening to these wonderful songs in between news bulletins on the war effort, such is their historical authenticity. They really do recreate that atmosphere, especially the songs that feature Ray Eberle on vocals. His gentle, crooning voice alone is enough to take you back in time, with such tracks as Indian Summer, Stairway to the Stars, and A Room With a View. Put this CD on, close your eyes and drift into the 1940s. Brilliant and enchanting."
