Product DescriptionWhen looking back over the popular music of the 20th Century two composers feature as head and shoulders above the rest. They are Irving Berlin and Harold Arlen. Both composers were lucky enough to have lived in and had their music performed in the same era as the world's foremost dance orchestra...The Glenn Miller Orchestra. The performances on this CD cover the period from 1939 when the civilian orchestra was at its zenith and subsequently The Army Air Forces Overseas Orchestra through to the period when Glenn's old saxophonist and vocalist, Tex Beneke, picked up the baton and took over the leadership of the orchestra. It is of particular interest that the album features many unusual and rare tracks.
