CD Reviews3 previously unreleased '44 broadcasts from London&Paris! 07/28/1999 (5 out of 5 stars) "After 55 years, its incredible to hear for the very first time 3 previously unreleased complete radio broadcasts (BBC/AFRS)from London and Paris by Glenn Miller's Army Air Force Orchestra (four songs have never appeared on LP or CD before!)Even Ed Polic's definitive discography of Glenn's AAF Band, "I Sustain The Wings", did not list some of the tunes on this CD as having been captured on transcription back in '44, yet here they are.Great swinging instrumentals, romatic ballads sung by Sgt. Johnny Desmond ("The Creamer")and announcements by Major Glenn Miller... and Sgt. Ray McKinley singing some "Swing Shift" specials. The final show is fabulous. A live short-wave over seas broadcast to WOR radio in New York City and on over the Mutual Radio Network: Christmas Eve, '44 with simulcast of the Miller Band "of the Allied Expeditionary Forces (AEF)" in Paris, and the British AEF & Canadian AEF Bands in London, all playing, and singing "AULD ANGE SYNE" at thesame time. Incedible! This CD ranks with RCA's "The Secret Recordings" ,Connifer's "The Lost Recordings" and AVID's "Missing Chapters" for great historical significance and wonderful sound restoration of very rare material." Wonderful! 12/19/1999 (5 out of 5 stars) "Ditto the raves of the previous reviewer. One more notable item about this recording is that the last broadcast on it (Christmas 1944) has a guest bandleader who introduces himself at the beginning as subbing for Capt. Miller. At the end of the broadcast, the sub announces that Glenn Miller's plane has gone missing between London and Paris. . . ."
