"For those who do not have the prior Mercury release ("Glenn Miller in Hollywood"), this is an essential Miller CD. The civilian band was NEVER recorded this well elsewhere, except possibly on some of the airchecks which have fuller, rounder sound than the harsh, dead-sounding Bluebird and RCA Victor 78s. Also, studio "ringers" Pat Friday and Lorraine Hunt had gorgeous singing voices, much better than any Miller band singer other than Kay Starr, and these recordings include the COMPLETE arrangements of "Chattanooga Choo Choo," "Serenade in Blue," "Kalamazoo" and "At Last" (though for some unknown reason the CD omits the half-chorus on the latter tune played by Glenn with the trombone section which is in the film!).
The problem here is price. Japanese Victor is charging way too much for this CD. The used price is much more reasonable. Go for it!!"
