"Glen Walters has one of those wonderfully warm, expressive voices that serves as an excellent instrument for blues, pop, R&B, rock n' roll or soulful funk. He is a former founding member of cult Southern Blues-Rock Band, Hoo Doo Rhythm Devils. You can find 3 or 4 albums on vinyl, but until someone has the smarts to release these outstanding recordings on CD, The King Of Retro Cool serves up admirable chunks of pure musical pleasure. Backed with former Tower of Power maestro, Doc Krupa's new band, Superstroke Superband, just about every one of the 11 tracks sizzles and shines.Mid-tempo funk on Monkey Shines and Animal Walk, is joined by get-down blues workouts such as A Woman's Touch and Don't You Know! Another TOP alumnae, Mic Gilette (trumpet, trombone) arranges horns on the infectious R&B delight, Diamond Billy's Uptown Bar-B-Que.Cut yourself a slab of Retro Cool; perfect for your next get together-no need to skip a single track. Also recommended, the earlier Doc Krupa release, Strokeland Superband."

"I rarely recommend entire albums. If you have even the slightest fondness for well orchestrated horn and rhythm sections accompanied by spunky vocals, you will LOVE every single cut on this CD. Yeah, its that good!"

"As a fan of the Hoodoos & Tower of Power I was really looking forward to a blast from the past with a big hint of the future. Unfortunately, I was disappointed with the contrived lyrics and overall lack of energy in the sides. Even the track penned by Walters & Joe Crane wasn't up to their work with the Hoodoos. Great production but it's not gonna get me up the highway. I'll still give 'em a shot but I hope the next go 'round hits the note."
