A landmark ambient work

"76:14 is one of the milestones in ambient/downtempo electronica music. I've come across few other works in the genre have the same warm, dreamy, timeless, placeless quality. Global Communication uses the minimalist sensibilities of ambient and the cut-and-paste palette of 90s house music -- choral washes, samples, blips, and the occasional beat -- to create a sonic collage that somehow stands apart from the norms of both styles. It's more moving than pure ambient, but without the clutter of house electronica.
For me, few other chillout CDs as distinctive and replayable as this one. The way layers of whispery, echoing voices, gentle successions of synth notes, and a few unintrusive real-world sounds (a clock is used to good effect in 14:31) loop and flow in harmony, building to sublime crests as gradually as an eagle on a thermal, then returning to deep contemplativeness, are a listening experience to get lost in. It's the perfect soundtrack for writing, painting, computer work, or just looking out the window at the clouds, thinking of the dreamy afternoons of childhood.
Highly recommended as a gateway album to anyone exploring the ambient or idm genres. Standout tracks are 14:31 and 8:07 (with its overt Tangerine Dream reference), but the whole CD is great, and worth listening to in its entirety.
Note: I only own the original release (disc one), but I've heard three or four tracks from the bonus disc, and they're all high quality."
One word: Awesome

"I bought this on a gamble after reading the Amazon reviews. This is the best ambient CD I've ever heard. What a trip. What a gift. Try it out and you'll quickly add it to your "most frequently played" stack of CD's."
