"I'm on my 3rd time through this CD and I have to admit, I'm a bit disappointed. The variety of styles is great, the chanting and the rhythyms are also great. However, there is liberal use of what I'd call "cheesy keyboard". To me, the "cheesy keyboard" takes away any depth and power that the rhythyms and native words may have created. What I didn't know when I purchased this CD is that it is produced & written & played by Karunesh. Although talented, Karunesh is too "new-agey" for me. For example, keyboard was used in many cases in place of actual flutes, and is used *heaviliy* throughout the CD. This gives the overall sound an engineered, digitally polished quality, that is too refined, too new age, and not authentic enough for me. If you are a fan of the New Age genre and enjoy a global flavor to your music, or if you're a fan of Karunesh, you will love this. But if you are looking for something as powerful and rich as say, Deep Forest or Enigma, you might be disappointed. Global Spirit is not terrible, it just lacks the power and transporting qualities I was looking for."

"This is truly beautiful CD. I was reading posts on one of the Deep Forest message boards when one of the the users recommended this CD. I decided to check it out and was truly satisfied with variety of world sounds that were blended with perfect beats that are played by Karunesh. I have never heard of this artist before but all of the fans of Deep Forest, Adiemus or Enigma should be very pleased with this CD. I listened to it at work doing my graphic design stuff and really enjoy it. I hope there will be a Global Spirit II."
This CD is a fresh look in contemporary World music
"I have known Karunesh music for almost 10 years and I have practically everything -?- that he has released so far. For the last years, however, I thought he had disappeared, only to find out that he is so involved with the Global Spirit project. This CD brings me back to his Secrets of Life work, but there is such a fresh, contemporary ambient. I love Global Spirit, I consider this CD as a fresh look to World music of our years. Whether one likes world/ethnic music, that is another issues. Besides, I do not like this grouping of music in categories."
INSTANT CLASSIC of ETHNIC FUSION

"The composer Karunesh has created a forever soundscape that blends many cultural sounds together. The worldly instruments mixed with a modern accoustic sound creates some of the most beautiful ethnic vocals / songs ever imagined. I guarantee you that if you like ethnic fusion you will love this CD. Give it a chance, you won't be sorry. I hope Karunesh will continue in this musical direction as it is by far the most pleasurable to the ears."

"Wow!! What a find. I was blown away by the intricate sounds and rhythms and listened to the CD again and again. A tribal journey around the world, fascinating instruments I'd never heard before, woven together by a hypnotic bass and drumming. Dance/Trance. Singers from all over the world: Native American, Indian, Persian, Tibetan (?), Aborigines. One of my all time favorite albums. Who is global spirit? Why don't we know more about these masterful musicians? Do they have other releases? I couldn't find any. Mysterious, like the music ..."
