"With Miss Gloria Lynne on vocals, you can't go wrong!!! This 2 album ("I Wish You Love" and Go! Go! Go!) were part of her Everest recordings and has been recently put together by Collectables Jazz Classics. The first track taken from the "I Wish You Love" album is in fact the title song "I Wish You Love" written some 15 years ago by Frenchman Charles Trenet. Although Keely Smith was the first to record it, it is Miss Lynne's version that brought it the well deserved noteriety it has till this day.
The album has countless gems on it such as "Love I've Found You." "And This Is My Beloved," "You Don't Know What Love Is," "I Know Love," "Be My Love," "If You Love Me," which are some of my personal favorites. Along with "Indian Love Call," "There is No Greater Love," "I Can't Give You Anything But Love," "Wouldn't it Be Lovely," closing with "End of a Love Affair."
The second album "Go! Go! Go!" opens with "Cheek to Cheek," followed by "How Long Has This Been Going On," "Day In Day Out," "They Say It's Wonderful," "And This is My Beloved(different mix),"What A Man," "I'm Just a Lucky So and So," "I'm Always Chasing Rainbows," "They Can't Take That Away From Me," "Smile it Off," "The Song is You," and closes with "My Little Brown Book."
Some of my favorites from this album include "Cheek to Cheek," "Day In, Day Out," "They Say It's Wonderful," "What A Man," "I'm Alway Chasing Rainbows," "Smile it Off," and "The Song is You." Miss Lynne really blows on all of these numbers, but I particularly love her phrasing and the emotions she exudes when singing "I'm Always Chasing Rainbows."
Miss Gloria Lynne's voice is like an insturment only heard in heaven. Her velvety tones, take you on a rollercoaster ride of emotions all of which are necessary in order to feel a song being sung. Miss Lynne is a gem that should be treasured and shared with everyone. One can not definitively define greatness, but after listening to Gloria Lynne sing, you realize that you've come one step closer to understanding what true genius is all about.
This is album is a must for all those Gloria Lynne fans and for those who enjoy vocal jazz/traditional pop jazz at it's finest!
