"First off I should mention that this CD set justifies its already low price tag with the 2nd CD alone. The 2nd CD, whose tracks have not been listed, is a live set from the Starland Ballroom. As I said, this CD alone was worth the price. The track list is great, reminding people that while God Forbid's sound has changed a bit over the years, its been a matter of progression & evolution, not selling out or losing creativity. Far from it. The sound quality is excellent, and most importantly, the songs sound incredible live, possibly better than the studio versions in some ways. (raw energy, etc)
That being said, the new material is excellent. It took a little time to get into one or two songs, but that's neither a complaint or a criticism. I was hoping for some songs along the lines of Broken Promise and Crucify Your Beliefs (though The New Clear comes very close)
On a side note, the album art is great. A little too much Photoshop in the liner notes, but the cover itself is great.
This is DEFINITELY worth an immediate purchase. Don't download it unless you're getting the live set as well. If the live set isn't included then just buy the CD set. Its a few bucks more, but well worth the investment."
Great, great album

"
This is Definitely going to be one of the best metal albums of 2009. Very good song writing, cool riffs and good vocals. The highlights for me are the epic title song and the song named 'Gaia (The Vultures)'.
Highly recommended for metalcore and melodic death metal fans."
Best yet!

"this album just shows how much more then metal genre can expand and progress. god forbid has the talent of putting feeling and emotion into metal. at the same time, they keep the songs progressive and artistic.
i always thought progression in metal would solely come from the instruments, but this album shows just how much the vocal melodies can really make a great song better. dallas' singing really adds a symphonic element to the songs.
as always doc coyle's solos are epic and memorable.
my favorite song right now is probably "walk alone" and "empire of the gun."
check out [....]review. they gave it 9.5 out of 10.

Not Bad, but Still Listening

"God Forbid is one of my favorite bands, one of the few out there not afraid to be themselves and make some damn good music. This album features the heaviest song I have ever heard from them, that is War of Attrition, reminiscient of Determination and beyond showcasing their incredible skill. Unfortunately the rest of this album doesnt match, now thats not a bad thing, the album still rocks, but i really wish the whole album could have been as great as that one song. True their are songs that begin with that heaviness, or in the song somewhere, but true to God Forbid form they dont make the same song twice. Definitely a great album a little to slow for me at times, especially toward the end of the album, hoestly if i could i would rate it a 3-5, cause its hard to rate these cds so close to buying it, mostly because this is a band hard to understand at first, but the more you listen the more addictive it gets. One last note, who is the idiot who is listed as Chad Kroegers #1 fan, and buying a God Forbid CD, what an idiot, seriously if i listen to Backstreet boys than bought a Machine Head CD, i would assume i prolly wouldnt like it, not to mention right a friggin' review for it. This kid was obviously dropped on his head quite a bit when he was a toddler. BTW #1 fan, Limp Bizkit sucks, they sucked back in the ninties and they suck even harder today, even tho that cant possibly be true because that band doesnt even exist anymore, jeez, i swear if this countrys intelligence keeps declining at this rate we really are F*&#ed."
