"it would be pointless to review "Pure",as there are already a ton of good descriptions of that album .though words dont do Godflesh justice , it seems this EP is often overlooked despite being easy to find , so why not try. i believe the time period that produced "Cold World" "Pure" & "Merciless" and their cover of Sabbaths "Zero the Hero" was GF at their cold ,grey ,bleak best. the guitar/bass sound was massive , shrouding; the beats were minimal ,and simple , but very rhythmic , and made even the stiffest necks rock back and forth at their romping stomping lead. i dont listen to dance music , most industrial gets on my nerves , and i can barely stand hip hop for more than 1-maybe 2 seconds , Godflesh werent really any of these things , but they scavenged & recycled the more brilliant elements of each and made them say something without words , without fashion , without trends or succumbing to whatever silly phase the underground was going thru at any particular time. this is what you werent looking for , only to find it was what you needed. long live one of musics few, truely Pure entities."
