"Golden Lake Diner Letters HomeSonic UnyonGolden Lake Diner are a relatively young band, fighting their way through the smog and sludge of Hamilton, Ontario in order to deliver their blend of classical guitar, jazz, emo and other such musical chaos to the borders of Canada and beyond. Their debut cd, Letters Home, is a terrific experiment in timing, harmony, and musical know-how that is left unmatched by any other band I can think of. The riffs and melodies are executed with frighteningly precise skill; layered with haunting vocals which are both beautiful and apocalyptic. Frenzied, unpredictible, chaotic: yet strangely soothing. Cryptic lyrics accompany every song ('salvage all the window hair, and bled from the fracture of a smile/ teeth bite, never deep enough'), adding yet another dimension to the layers of aural delight. Golden Lake Diner use vocals like a fifth instrument; finding more harmonies to go with the many already present. Each song is a well-crafted aural gem. -jordan lane"
