Synopsis

Album Description
Includes a bonus DVD (PAL/Region 0). 'La Muerte' marks the sixth album in a career dating back to 1989 for Holland's Gorefest - a band who have had an exceptionally dedicated following since the early 1990s. After disbanding in 1998 fans figured it was all over. Lo-and-behold another bloody reunion. But, it's definitely a positive for all involved. 'La Muerte', it seems, has been well worth the effort. The albums plays through at a fairly mid-tempo pace, while quite a menacing mood is created combining counteracting sustained and muted riffs, galloping drums and drawn out Lee Dorrian-esque vocals. Clocking in at almost 65-minutes the 12 songs are set to really please fans and many newcomers. *Please note you will need an All Code DVD player to view. Nuclear Blast.. 2005.

GOREFEST returns with a killer album...
Pablosa | Buenos Aires, Capital Federal Argentina | 06/07/2006
(5 out of 5 stars)

"The dutch metallians GOREFEST releases their brand new album, LA MUERTE, the follow up to CHAPTER 13, back in 1998, when the band decided to break up. Now, with a more refined but aggressive sound and touch, the band returns with one of the most complete albums of their discography. With CHAPTER 13's heavy sound, the band managed to recapture the feeling of the FALSE/ERASE sessions, delivering an album with different musical layers. The album all the fans have been waiting for a long time...

You'll find ultra fast and brutal songs like "For the masses", "Malicious intent" and "Man to fall", with some "The Glorious dead" (from FALSE) reminiscenses, and heavy mid tempos like "When the dead walk the earth" and "Of death and chaos". There are lots of hard crushing riffs that manage to stand out for themselves and the quality of the final mixing. Along with the heavy guitars, you have the punishing drumming with a double drum-kicking that feels like a machine gun with JC's best vocal work to date, growling and growling.

You won't find in this album the "modern" or mainstream touches or ballads of CHAPTER 13 (don't get me wrong, CHAPTER 13 is a good album), nor the 70's keyboards of SOUL SURIVOR...Just plain and simple death metal, with a lot of attitude and aggression, that seemed lost, but now regained...

I've been a GOREFST fan for years now, and I'm glad to see the band going back to their roots. Is there a more glorious comeback?!??! They wanted to do it, and they did it right. Better late than never... People, GOREFEST is back, in their raw and natural state, with no strings attached..."
