"I love this album...however I would NEVER buy it, it is a re-release of a previous grandaddy album, that the band did not want produced, and can be obtained from the bands website, grandaddylandscape.com."

"Please be advised that this album arrives without "Grandaddys'" input or knowledge. It consists primarily of The Broken Down Comforter Collection, which can be found in stores for less money than Concrete Dunes is selling for. The band was not involved in the decision to rerelease or repackage this album either. I think that it's probably inappropriate for me to discourage you from buying it, so I won't actually verbalize that sentiment. But you can find all these b-sides on their various singles.
A FAN"

"Being a huge Grandaddy fan I couldn't help but buy this album. I assume anyone considering purchasing this cd already has the three proper Grandaddy LPs. If not get those first. They are all brilliant. If you still need a grandaddy fix after those buy "Broken down comforter collection". It is essentially the same disk as this missing a couple of tracks. I know what you're thinking, if there's less tracks why get bdcc instead? The reason why is that concrete dunes was released without grandaddy's permission (as opposed to bdcc) and the extra couple of tracks aren't worth selling your soul to some evil record company exec. That said all the songs are grandaddelicious so you won't be dissapointed if you do purchase."
Songs worth swallowing a little pride for

"despite the evils of this collection being released without the bands' knowledge, this is quite an exception in the world of "b-sides and rarities" albums. most i have heard usually have one or two good songs and the rest leaves no mystery to why they are rare or unreleased. all of the songs on this collection are wonderful (with the exception of "sikh in a baja vw bug," which would've been okay to stay unreleased or rare), some shine more than many of their album tracks and singles. most show the bands softer side, and many tend to be sad, but there is such a warm vunerability that they don't bum you out. "for the dishwasher" is my new theme song for late night bike rides home from work, and "why would i want to die," "lava kiss," and "12-pak-599" are more new favorites to add to the wonderful list of grandaddy classics.
if you are opposed to buying an album put out without the bands' permission, do yourself a favor and track these songs down somehow. it will be well worth it. also, if you don't own the "signal to snow radio" e.p., buy it immediately...you won't be sorry."
