This record is no Quiet Storm

"In recent years, most new Jazz records have put me to sleep, Loop backed nothingness. "Cool Man Cool", like Mr. Geissman's last record continues his saying enough is enough of trying to make "Jazz" records based on what may seem to be expected, just to get airplay.
With those conventions being cast aside, you have one of the best new jazz albums I have heard in years. It feels like they had a great time making the record, and it plays great from track to track. Featuring many great guest artists,"Cool Man Cool" would have been just fine with Mr. Geissman's smooth and always "seemingly" effortless playing (I know it is not effortless, it just always sounds like it is)
The tracks are well written, with just enough curve balls thrown at you to keep the listener on his toes.
A great record, and a great signal, that the Jazz Nightmare, some have called the Quiet Storm is finally coming to an end."
Great new Geissman CD!

"I've been a fan of Grant Geissman's for years and really enjoyed his previous CD, Say That, which was much more cool/bepop than his previous solo recordings. Cool Man Cool is another CD with a strong flavor of cool jazz from the 50's. Grant's playing -- and writing -- is in top form here, and while he has his own style there are unmistakable winks and nods to the styles of guitar legends like Kenny Burrell, Jim Hall, Wes Montgomery and even Django Reinhardt. As always, Mr. Geissman has a killer backup band and, as an added treat there are guest appearances by Chuck Mangione and Chick Corea. This is a joyful performance from start to finish. Very highly recommended!"
Grant is cool...

"This CD is great, and shows Grant's new found straight ahead chops for playing and composing. Great producing with guest artists including Chick Corea, Russel Ferrante, Tom Scott and Chuck Mangione. I think it's his best CD to date, so get one......"
