Not your typical screamo band...

"here we are now in the middle of 2006 and the term "screamo" is a household term (well, not exactly) and lots of these bands are getting to the mainstream, trl, and loved by teens everywhere. when this kind of thing happens to a once thought of as a "sacred" genre, you know the scene is going down the toilet. and it is, due to all the generic and cliche bands trying to pull off the whole scream/sing vocals in the last few years.
with that said, i introduce the band "greeley estates" and their debut album "far from the lies". the first thing i noticed in this cd is that there's a lot of screaming but it's actually done real well. the screaming is a high pitch, kind of shrieking and fits in very well with the beautiful melodies in the songs.
true, greeley estates isn't original but the music is very top-notch and is very catchy. maybe a more accurate label to describe the band is emocore due to the killer breakdowns and double bass. i usually hate bands like hawthorne heights but greeley estates is a very good band. i think the motivational and positive lyrics help this album too. seriously, how many more "cut my wrists and black my eyes" screamo bands do we need? NO MORE!
so if your into screamo music with straight-forward lyrics, some nice breakdowns, and double bass then i'm sure you'll love this cd. greeley estates is comparable to "new" underoath, the used, and yesterday's rising. i'm really surprised even now in 2006, that a new screamo band can be as good as these guys are. no, it's not new or original but is very catchy and dare i say "fresh". recommended to any screamo fan..."
Great Stuff....

"If you like todays rock at all, this cd has something for everyone: screams, melodies, beautiful lyrics, ballads, flat out rocking. Also get Outside of This and Caveat Emptor, two other great cds from Greeley Estates.
Check these guys out live if you ever see they are near your town. You will not be disappointed. One of the most down to earth bands in this industry."
