STILL MAKING GOOD MUSIC

"This late '80s offering from the cool ruler wasn't necessarily a classic album, but it did yield a classic song. The legendary 'rumors' was a dancehall burner and is the stand-out on the cd(those familiar with 'telephone love' by Shabba Ranks will recognize the music). That's not to suggest that this one lacks quality songs. The title song reminds how smooth Mr.Isaacs is while showing that he could continue during the changing sound of reggae at the time. 'Teacher's plight' is a nice tune as well as 'mind yu dis'. Also noteworthy is the fact that "Gussie" Clarke produced this album. This is important 'cause he was producing a style of reggae not normally associated with him as he comes from a different era. I feel he pulled it off though. There are stronger albums, but 'red rose' is still cool music."

"Ohh Lord, Gregory Isaacs is sooo romantic. He has such a velvety, rich, smoothe, swoon-worthy voice. Listening to his music and his VOICE is like a warm tropical breeze gently blowing through your hair while you're relaxing in a hammock suspended by two palm trees...."
