"Being a long time Greyboy fan (and a Ubiquity Street Team Member) I can tell you a few things here, 1) this CD is VERY good, 2) This CD is not really like anything that has been put out by Greyboy (meaning, don't expect another "Mastered the Art") and 3) this CD is funky as all hell and I mean that in a good way!I picked up this disc today from my local music shop and I ask the guy at the counter if he had heard it. He said he did and was not a fan of it. "Too much repetition" and "not enough rhyming" were mainly his complaints. Well, yeah, "Mastered the Art" was a sick disc but it was unlike anything Greyboy had ever put out, it had lots of flow in it with his classic tight beats. However, if you listen to all of Greyboy's collection ("Greybreaks", "Land of the Lost", "Freestylin'" and "Mastered the Art") you'll find that they all have a unique flavor to them. Thus is the same case for "Soul Mosaic". Overall, I give this disc 8.5 out of 10, or 4 out of 5 stars. Trust me, I don't give 5 stars out much, that's saved for an all time classic. The tracks are funky, they've got flavor, it hits downtempo beats then brings you back up again with some funk. Although it doesn't have much rhyming, it has people singing and it still has that classic Greyboy sound to it. You know what I'm talking about, that sit-back-and-chill-as-you-bob-your-head feel. I think if you had to compare it to any of his other previous albums, "Greybreaks" (my personal favorite) is the closest it comes to. Maybe I haven't heard "Soul Mosaic" enough but I feel like these jams sound like the have a lot in common with The Thievery Corporation (particularly the album "Mirror Conspiracy").Either way, the disc is dope and one I recommend for any Greyboy or Ubiquity fan. However, if this is your first Greyboy disc, I'd suggest "Greybreaks" if your into funky ass beats you can listen to as a small group of friends comes over for the night - or - "Mastered the Art" if your vice is more hip-hop based.My favorite tracks: #1, 2, 6, 8 & 16.
#16 is way tight, it's crept past track #1 as my favorite because for some reason I can just totally hear it somehow being dropped into a Quinton Tarantino flick. Whoa baby, what a trip that would be!!Oh yeah, I also *bought* this CD, something I don't regularly do. Please keep supporting our local/underground artists as they are the ones that truly deserve it.(...)"

"Soul Mosaic is a really solid album front to back. This album is more soul, funk, r&b based. There are a lot more guest vocalists on this release than any of his previous work. If you liked 'Mastered the Art' for its mix of electronica head-nod beats and hip-hop, this new one may not be for you.If you liked his old acid jazz days, there isn't a whole lot of that on here either.It's definitely grown on me after a few listens. He has an impeccable track record, so the faithful should definitely check it out and see where he's headed now. It's good stuff!"
