Rock 'N' Roll Is Alive And Well
Hoagie Mike | Sacramento, CA | 09/13/2006
(5 out of 5 stars)

"On "Berry'd Alive", Sacramento's own Groovie Ghoulies rips it up and lets it rock, in this tribute to the true King of Rock and Roll, Chuck Berry, covering some of Chuck's lesser known gems. This fun filled EP has plenty of teeth, passion, and enough rock and roll swagger, to remind us all why rock music is so good for the soul. Every track sizzles, pops, rocks, and the band's chops have never been better. Kepi on bass and vocals, Roach on Guitar and backing vocals, and Scampi on the Drums. This rocks hard from front to back. Long Live the Groovie Ghoulies and Chuck Berry- Hail! Hail! Rock & Roll!"
New(Classic) Rock N Roll
EerieVonEvil | The Rabbit Hole | 03/10/2007
(5 out of 5 stars)

"The Groovie Ghoulies are a really fun band. Equal parts Ramones and Misfits, yet they stil have their own sound. Since Re-Animation Festival they have been consistently great in bringing us the best in fun, catchy rock tunes. While I was hoping for a new full length album from the band after such a long hiatus, I was extremely impressed with this E.P. of Chuck Berry tunes. None of these songs are any of Chuck's well-known tunes(i.e. Johnny Be Good), but thats the beauty of it. These very well could be Ghoulies songs! If you like anything the Groovie Ghoulies has done in the past or you just like pure classic-style rock n roll then this is the best 14 mins you could spend listening to music. I recommend you upload this to an Ipod with your other Ghoulies tunes because its so short and these songs meld together with their originals perfectly. This E.P. makes me want to drink beer and dance like a fool. Exciting stuff."
