Re-Package Of Hogs On The Road
JOHN SPOKUS | BALTIMORE, MARYLAND United States | 03/25/2002
(2 out of 5 stars)

"Well this is not from the classic Groundhogs period as the title would have you believe. It's a re-package of the late 80's version of the band's live album Hogs On The Road, minus some tracks. Hogs On The Road has been re-packsged under several different budget titles, and recently was properly released on CD in it's entirety. Tony McPhee's performance here sounds a little tired and half hearted, and his sidemen don't hold a candle to Pete Cruickshank and Ken Pustelnik of the real classic 1969-1972 line-up. Some tunes like Mistreated and Express Man are barely recognizable, performed in a hurried up, over simplified fashion. Pass on this and get Boogie With Us, a better live collection with material from the great Hoggin The Stage album that featured both the 'classic' line-up recorded at Leeds opening for the Stones and recorded by Glyn Johns, and the 1976 Black Diamond crew, performing in Sweden, as well."
