"I've been itching to get my hands on this music for so long, having gifted the original album many years ago, only to find that it was irreplaceable.
The atmosphere created by tracks three thru seven, particularly Grover's Reed Seed and Loran's Dance, then James Simmon's Maracas Beach,is so mellow and laid-back.
Santa Cruzin has the most delightful percussion, with Doc Gibbs stickin' it to his rims, skins and bells like no-one else I've ever heard.
Grover's hornwork is incomparable; so relaxed - nothing to prove - the master without doubt.
The only downside to this reissue is it's liner notes -tiny, fuzzy, unreadable green text on a black ground.
Verve, please take note and correct this flaw in your otherwise excellent production.

"It's about time - I have waited years for this release and am sooo glad it is out. This is a timeless classic from cover to cover. The master at his best! I had this when it first came out on cassette - but I guess I played it too much and so the cassette broke - I was going to spend some serious money for the c.d. when the reissue happened. I am here to tell you if you like any of today's sax players ; a la Boney James, Euge Groove, Kenney G. , Walter Beasley, Kim Waters, Richard Elliot, Kirk Whalum, check this out! If you are a fan of Grover's check this out - it has been awhile since this was out and you may not have it - YOU WILL NOT GO WRONG!!!"
