CD Reviews

Williams Truly Inspires.
P. Holm | Bellingham, WA | 11/25/2005
(5 out of 5 stars)

"Out of my 11 John Williams CDs, this is probably my favorite. The moods he portrays through his guitar leave me daydreaming as he plays. Although many styles and periods are represented (giving the listener a wonderful array of Williams' abilities), tracks 4-7 are so intense and well-done they inspire and provoke new ideas and concepts I've never imagined.

I believe this album is his best work."
Simply incredible
Richard B. Schuchman | Orlando, FL United States | 10/23/2007

"This is an AMAZING cd from the master. It's a great selection of pieces, and Williams delivers immaculate, incisive and definitive renditions of every single one. His control of tone and dynamics, especially on Koyunbaba, Stele (with their multiple parts and layered voicings), and Ductia (with it's combination of plucked notes and harmonics) is breathtaking. His Smallman guitar produces every sound from the delicate Gnossienne of Satie to the vigorous rhythms of the Saltarello with a warmth and fullness not often heard. From a guitarist who consistantly releases the definitive versions of everything from Bach to Barrios, this recording is a standout among standouts and a must-have for anyone interested in classical guitar and it's place in serious world music."

"I gave this album to my husband for Christmas because he loves Spanish guitar. He loved the album and has downloaded it to his Ipod. The music is wonderful and John Williams plays beautifully."
