"One of the most underrated R&B groups of the 90's I think would have to be H-Town. Their first album: Fever for da Flavor went 3 times platinum but I still think they didn't get the credit they deserved. The introduction says it all. Then you have "can't fade the H, this song is good because its saying to all the people who thought they couldn't make it, look at us now. I think one of the best songs on this album would have to be track 3: "treat U right", you get to hear the late but great dino putting his all into the song and the vocal arrangements are right on target. Track 4 is "fever for da flavor" this track is very soothing, something you can go to sleep listening to, and once again dino's voice makes the song, a song. Don't let the title fool you "sex me" is not as bad as you would think. This song is one of the songs that went platinum for the trio; it is also one of my favorites also. Track 6 "h-town bounce is another good example of vocal arrangement. One of the prettiest songs on the album is "keepin' my composure". Dino has a gifted voice and he uses it very well in that song. The interlude is good. Why? You might ask, because they give thanks to the Lord. "Lick U Up" is another song that went platinum for the group. You can hear Dino giving his all in this song, that's also why it's a good song and you should get the album. Track 10 "knockin' da boots," which was a phrase that got used a lot through the 90's, is what all started it for me. When I first heard the song I immediately fell in love with it. I think the 90's was filled with a lot of talent and we need a lot of that talent now, you had, "H-Town," "Jodeci," "Silk," "Mint condition," "Hi-Five," "SWV," etc. Another beautiful song on Fever for da Flavor is "Won't U Come Back". This song has a nice beat to it and you also have a very talented singer on the track making the album a hit. Last but not least H-town's "Baby I Wanna" is a smooth, sexy classic. I think this was the right song to end the album with. We need more songs like these. If you ask me I think you should purchase this album...that is if your a fan of early 90s male R&B groups.
Sincerely yours!

"I heard Dino (the one to the left)Died in Early 2003 in a car accident along with his girlfriend/baby mother he was only 28...it was VERY sad news because he was coming home from the studio working on the H-Town reunion album when a car ran the red light, hit them turning the SUV over and throwing them both from the car. they were killed instantly.
He left behind a young daughter too.
I loved H-Town from back in the day "knockin' the boots" and I really love the production skills of Dino, he didn't get much credit for his beats. My favorite album is this one and "Ladies' Edition" they talk about everything from a woman being abused by her man to her man eventually killing her...I felt every song they wrote and I was hoping they would come out with another album but it is not to be due to the tragic death of Dino in the group.
His brother Shazam (right)had some great singing talent with his high soprano, man I will really miss this group, their albums are now collectors items and is going to be hard to get.
I am trying to get them all now for my R&B collection.

"This album is phenomenal, H-Town's southern soulful sound is awesome. The beats & lyrics are true R&B flavor. I love all of the songs, but especially Keepin' My Composure, Lick U Up, Knockin' Da Boots & Won't U Come Back. There is sexual content but H-Town does it classy & tasteful. GI & Shazam are so talented with great voices. Dino's voice is passionate, powerful, just electrifying and full of love. The album was recorded in the 90s but its affect is still upon my heart in 2003, and will be in the years to come. True R&B is lasting.GI & Shazam, I am glad you are continuing the H-Town legacy. Much love & success to you always. My sympathy to the families. Dino, may you rest in eternal peace my sweet prince. The world has lost a phenomenal talent, therefore, we must pay tribute to you. Join us at: [website]"

"I still remember H-Town's first album from 1993. It came around the same time that a flood of R&B male trios and quartets like Silk, H-Town, Intro, Shai, Portrait and others dominated music charts. But this Houston trio had its own vocal style and sexy songs, such as Knockin' Da Boots and others on here. One of the surprises is when Lick U Up opens as Dino starts sounding like Barry White for a few seconds, the way that Barry was singing it on his '70s ballad hits. And Lick has a lot of booming bass, something not typical on the average more relaxed and quiet ballad. But the bass is smooth if you turn it down, and the bridges on the song are just as relaxing for you to slow dance to. What's also surprising is that the members produced the songs themselves along with some Houston-area producers. The album was recorded mostly in Houston, but it can rival any of the slick New York or LA studio productions that most artists have to go to. Dino Conner died in a car accident two years ago, but this first album with H-Town just demonstrates his greatness. He had a soulfulness in his voice that was just unbelievable on his group's songs. And don't count the other two members out--their singing, lead or background is just vibrant and complement the main leads of Dino."
ONE OF A KIND SOUND!!

"H-Town in my opinion is one of the best R&B groups to hit the music scene in the early 90's. They have a sound beyond compare!! Besides very Sexy and Seductive, they are also very talented. Dino will be greatly missed by his friends, family, and true "die hard" fans. The music industry has also suffered a great loss. Shazam & GI, just keep the faith and my prayers will continue to be with you.
